No cyclone threat, says Met Dept.

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka is not threatened by a cyclone and only a low
pressure area has developed over the Northern part of the island, Deputy
Director, Department of Meteorology G.B. Samarasinghe told Daily News
yesterday.
The low pressure is due to the depression in the Central Bay of
Bengal which is moving towards the Indian Sub Continent.
Showers accompanied by lightening and fairly strong winds are
expected in the Northern and Eastern parts of the island. Showers and
thunder showers can be expected at times elsewhere too. The Met
Department also advised fishermen to refrain from fishing.
