Lankan surgeon being investigated Down Under
The Royal Hobart Hospital has confirmed concerns have been raised
about the clinical competence of one of its overseas-trained surgeons.
The doctor from Sri Lanka has been working at the Royal since last
September.
He also worked in Canada before being registered by the Tasmanian
Medical Council as a urology consultant and taking up position at the
Royal.
A spokeswoman for the Royal says a clinical competence report has
been forwarded to the Medical Council, and the doctor will remain on
leave until the Council makes a recommendation.
The Medical Council did not comment on the case.
The Royal Hobart Hosptial says the doctor will remain on leave.
