The Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Ministry has taken
measures to construct permanent structures and stalls at the Nawagamuwa
Sacred place removing all unauthorised structures and boutiques in the
area, Minister Dinesh Gunawardane said.
The total cost for this project would be Rs. 3 million. Minister
Dinesh Gunawardane along with Education Minister Susil Prema Jayantha
inaugurated the construction work at a ceremony held at the site.
In addition to the proposed project, an alternative road, a pilgrims
rest, sanitation facilities including pipe-borne water facilities, a car
park and a drainage system will also be constructed.
Meanwhile, plans are mooted to map this sacred area to protect this
place from devastation, Minister Gunawardane added.
