Mumbai attacks truly horrendous Ex-Indian Army personnel
They are war heroes who have faced ambushes of LTTE and Afghan
terrorists but today even these iron men of Indian army are
shell-shocked by the intensity and preparedness of Mumbai terror attack
perpetrators with which they took the whole country to ransom.
Their main concern is not the failure of intelligence but the sheer
scale and planning which was completely different from the previous
attacks.
"The other terrorist attacks which happened in the country have
involved planting bombs in busy market and important buildings. But this
time the multiple attacks and taking of hostages increased the gravity
of the situation giving them utmost publicity and media exposure.
"It was extremely professional and well planned this time taking the
logistics and timings in account," says Brigadier Virendra Kumar (Retd.)
"I have been in Sri Lanka and studied LTTE's plan of action very
closely. They are understood to be the most crude in their attacks. But
technically speaking, the perpetrators of Mumbai attack were more sound
in their approach," he adds.
Militants stormed a series of high-profile targets on November 26 in
India's financial capital, including the iconic Taj Mahal Palace hotel,
a landmark restaurant, a main train station and a charitable hospital
for women and children.
They killed more than 190 people and held scores hostages, targeting
specifically Britons and Americans.
