India tells TNA MP:
Depart or we deport
The Indian Government has ordered TNA Parliamentarian M.K.
Sivajilingam to “Quit India” voluntarily within 72 hours or face
deportation, transCurrents.com website reported yesterday.
The reason for the order is presumed to be his open advocacy of Tamil
Eelam that is espoused by the LTTE.
The LTTE is a proscribed movement in India and anyone supporting it
is an offender under Indian law.
“He is suspected of aiding, abetting and instigating many political
demonstrations and meetings in India that demand a removal of the LTTE
ban and extending support for establishment of Tamil Eelam.
“Sivajilingam has openly participated in Indian political meetings
and spoken in support of Tamil Eelam and the LTTE.
“This is seen as both “interference” in the domestic politics of
India as well as using “Indian soil” to undermine a friendly country
like Sri Lanka.
“Since Sivajilingam is an elected MP the Indian authorities have
given him “Time” to depart voluntarily instead of forcibly deporting
him,” the news report by Mrinalini Ramachandra said.
According to the same report, instead of complying with the quit
order and leaving India, Sivajilingam has gone to Chennai.
MDMK leader Vaiko addressing a meeting in Chennai revealed that
Sivajilingam had now sought ‘political asylum in Tamil Nadu. |
