Interested parties dragging country to crisis - Asgiriya Prelate
Asela KURULUWANSA our Kandy Corr.
The Mahanayake Thera of the Asgiri Chapter Ven Udugama Sri
Buddharakkhitha Thera yesterday claimed that interested parties were
attempting to push the country into a crisis by driving a wedge between
the Government and the Judiciary.
The Mahanayake Thera said the LTTE terrorists who were on the verge
of defeat would beco-me more stronger if the government has to cease its
humanitarian mission to eradicate terrorism from the country for want of
funds.
The Mahanayake Thera made these observations when Plantation
Industries Minister D.M. Jayaratne called on the Mahanayake Thera to
receive blessings. The Minister presented his biography to the
Mahanayake Thera. The Mahanayake Thera further stated that certain
elements who wanted the country in a crisis will gain undue advantage if
dissention existed between the Government and the Judiciary.
The Thera said the sacrifice of a large number of lives and heavy
expenditure on the war effort would become futile, if the ongoing
mission against the LTTE terrorists were stopped, he said.
“The Government is bound to provide facilities to the public, though
the war requires more funds. The people should be ready to make certain
sacrifices for the country”, the Thera asserted.
The people should be united to find a final solution to the ethnic
issue, he pointed out. Chairman of the Godage Book publishers Deshabandu
Sri Sumana Godage was also present. |
