Sri Pada Abode of the Gods
The first reference to Sri Pada is found in the
Mahawansa the great Chronicle. It states that the Buddha on His
third visit to Sri Lanka after preaching the doctrine at Kelaniya
“rising aloft into the air displayed the impression of his foot on
the mountain Samanakuta (Sri Pada) by imprinting it there.
