First innings win for Cambrians

Rain interrupted the inter-school under-19 cricket tournament match between Prince of Wales and Kingswood which ended in a narrow first innings win for Cambrians played at Moratuwa.

Cambrians winning the toss invited the visitors to occupy the crease and they were soon in trouble and got out for a paltry 131 runs with the only resistance coming the bat of Chathura Kumarasiri who was unbeaten on 42 runs. Shehan Jayasuriya was the pick of the bowlers for Cambrians with 4 for 47. In reply Cambrians could not consolidate their position and they too were all out for 137 runs with Nuwantha Peiris and Dilan Chandima scoring 39 and 35 respectively.

Kingswood: 131 (Chathura Kumarasiri 42 n.o., Lahiru Gannoruwa 21, Shehan Jayasuriya 4/47, Dilan Chandima 2/6 and 88/5 (U. Hettige 30, D. Chandima 2/1).

Prince of Wales: 137 (Nuwantha Peiris 39, Dilan Chandima 35, L. Gannoruwa 4/22, R. Sandaruwan 3/30, P. Dharmaperuma 2/25).
