Two foreigners drown in Mahaweli estuary

Two foreigners drowned yesterday when the van they were inside went off the ferry where it was boarded for being ferried across the Mahaweli estuary in the Keeniya police division of Trincomalee, and fell into the water when they reportedly turned on the vehicle’s ignition key to turn on its AC module to cool off the day with artificial ventilation.

Tigers push civilians away from safe zone

The LTTE which has been disappointed with the way the exodus of civilians fleeing from the Tiger controlled area, have forced the civilians to go further North East of Puthukuduyiruppu and South of Chalai in their bid to keep them under their control for a long period, military sources told the Daily News yesterday.
