America fires Argentine coach
Club America fired its Argentine coach Ramon Diaz on Tuesday because
of the team's poor performance.
America didn't say in the statement on its Web site who will replace
him.
Diaz failed to qualify America for the Copa Libertadores, and began
the Mexican league with two losses, a victory and two draws.
America invested millions before the Clausura started in January to
beef up its roster and revive the beleaguered team, which had one of its
worst years in 2008.
It finished low in the standings in the Apertura and Clausura
tournaments.
Mexican media said America reportedly paid $4 million for Pavel
Pardo's transfer from Germany's Stuttgart.
