Strike: 65 prison officials to be interdicted

Commissioner General of Prisons Vajira Nissanka Wijegunawardena making a statement in open court before Panadura Magistrate Thushara Rajasinghe, said yesterday, he would take immediate action to interdict the 65 prison guards and jailors involved in the illegal strike at the Kalutara prison that paralyzed court activities in the Kalutara district.

The officers had not reported for duty at the prison in protest of remanding a prison guard and a jailor of the Kalutara prison for participating in a alleged conspiracy to assassinate the Panadura Provincial High Court Judge.
