Somali pirates seize Danish owned ship

Somali pirates seized a Danish-owned and US-flagged ship off Somalia on Wednesday, a spokesman for Bahrain-based US Fifth Fleet said.

“A US-flagged Danish-owned ship was attacked at around 7:30 am local time this morning, 240 nautical miles southeast of the Somali town of Eyl,” Lieutenant Nathan Schaeffer told AFP.” Schaeffer said the vessel, whose name was not immediately available, was a cargo ship.

He added that “there is a possibility that American citizens are on board. We are verifying this information.”
