Accelerated program for IDPs

The Ministry of Local Government and Provincial Councils has organized an integrated accelerated program with all local government institutions to provide facilities to Internally Displaced Persons(IDPs) of the North, Ministry sources said. The Ministry has already implemented a program to provide clothes and garments for them.

Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils Janaka Bandara Tennakoon said that the main objective of the project is to assist and enhance the beneficial project which has been already launched for IDPs, by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to meet their basic needs.

Minister Tennakoon informed this to all local government institutions and all those who wish to join this program could make their donations at village level.

The LTTE leader who pretended to be the liberator of the Tamil people is facing retribution for the crimes he has committed, the Minister said.

Senior Additional Ministry Secretary T.B. Wickramasinghe is the Program Coordinator appointed for the project.
