UNP requires urgent restructuring to prevent further collapse -
UNP MP
CHAMINDA PERERA
Commenting on the UPFA’s victory at the Western Provincial Council
election, UNP Badulla District Parliamentarian Lakshman Seneviratne
yesterday said the UNP requires an urgent restructuring process to
prevent its further collapse at an election in the future.
According to Seneviratne, the party should undergo a massive
restructuring process to evade further collapse and cracks in the party.
He said most of the UNP supporters have not voted for either the UNP or
other parties.
Their reluctance to vote for the Government shows that they do not
endorse Government policies.
Meanwhile, UNP Kurunegala District Parliamentarian Gamini
Jayawickrema Perera yesterday said the party should think why over 25–35
percent of supporters have not voted for the party.
The Government exploited the achievements gained by the Security
Forces in the North at the election. Perera said the UNP is also of the
opinion that the LTTE terrorists including its leader V. Prabhakaran
should be destroyed for lasting peace in the country. |
