IDP centre to be set up at Pulmodai
All arrangements have been made to setup an IDP centre at Pulmodai to
accommodate about 20,000 people (5,000 families) liberated from
Mullaitivu and arriving in Vavuniya. About 1,000 IDPs are temporary
accommodated at some schools in Pulmodai at the moment and the balance
IDPs will be brought as soon as the IDP centre is put up.
The Eastern Provincial Council and the Government Agent for
Trincomalee are coordinating this task under the guidance and
supervision of Eastern Province Governor Mohan Wijewickrama.
A meeting was held at the Governor’s Secretariat Trincomalee on April
24 to discuss the matter.
“Abinandana Pranama scholarships”
The Officers Association of People’s Bank annual scholarship program
will be held at 2 p.m. today at the People’s Bank Training Centre
Auditorium at D. R. Wijewardene Mawatha. The chief guests will be the
Chairman of People’s Bank W. Karunagiwa, Executive Officer and Personnel
Manager P. V. Pathirage in this occasion.
Beginning of Jumadhal Ula Huri 1430
The Colombo Grand Mosque yesterday announced that it was decided to
commence the Islamic month of Jumadhal Ula 1430, from evening of April
26.
Buddhist talk
Asoka Mahinda Jayasinghe will deliver a Public Buddhist talk in
English on “The Five Aggregates” at a meeting of the Servants of the
Buddha Society on Saturday May 2 at 4.30 p.m. at the Maitri Hall,
Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya.
