Attempts of imperialistic elements thwarted
Chaminda Perera
The majority of the population in the world has rejected the call by
a handful of Euro centric countries, their neighbours and allies to hold
a special session of the United Nations Human Rights Commission on Sri
Lanka.
These countries striving to hold a special session on what they
termed as deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sri Lanka should be
held responsible for exploiting the country under their colony.
These imperialist elements are raising their ugly heads when all
their attempts to carve out a separate State in Sri Lanka were foiled by
the Government led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
These sessionist elements were pandering to the most ruthless
terrorist group in the world - the LTTE - in defiance of well
established norms and practices in the world.
Sri Lanka was pressurized by several countries which themselves vowed
for the eradication of terrorism to give a breathing space to
Prabhakaran and his cronies who were defeated a few days back.
Their threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sri
Lanka has now surfaced in the form of alleged human rights violations in
Sri Lanka at a time when a Government mandated by the people is striving
to restore the rights of the Tamil people which were denied by the LTTE.
The LTTE conscripted thousands of children to its fighting cadre and
held thousands of people hostage for their own safety.
The Government through a humanitarian mission freed these innocent
civilians from the terrorists and restored their rights.
Most of the countries which still value the importance of non
alignment policy and honour the truth and justice firmly stand in
protest of the infamous call by secessionists to summon a special
session of the UN Human Rights Commission on Sri Lanka. |
