Over 580 houses built in three districts
A housing program for threatened villages (Boundary villages)
implemented under the Jathika Saviya program by the National Housing
Development Authority (NHDA) in the Anuradhapura, Trincomalee and
Moneragala Districts has been successfully completed.
Under this program which is implemented with the guidance of Senior
Advisor to the President and Member of Parliament Basil Rajapaksa and
under the supervision of Minister of Housing and Common Amenities Ferial
Ashraff, villages such as Dematawewa, Gonamariyawa, Heeralugama in the
Anuradhapura District, Kalyanapura, Morawewa, Galkaduwala and
Indikatuwewa in the Trincomalee District, Havanpitiya and Karandugala in
the Moneragala District are being developed.
These housing projects were implemented at District level and
infrastructure facilities such as roads, water and other facilities were
provided with the assistance of the Government Agents of respective
districts.
Under the Jathika Saviya program, 588 housing units were constructed
in Anuradhapura, Trincomalee and Moneragala District at a cost of Rs.
86.27 million.
These housing projects will be opened within next few days and NHDA
says that the experience gained from this housing program will be
applied from the human settlement program of resettling the housing
beneficiaries in the North Province under the Uthuru Wasanthaya program
in the future. |
