CR and FC in resounding 54-3 win

CR and FC powered their way to a resounding 54 points to 3 victory
over Sri Lanka Police Sports Club in their Caltex inter club ‘A’
division league rugby tournament match worked off at Police Park
yesterday.
The lads from Longden Place got their act together well from the kick
off and went on to collect their points from seven goals and one try
after having led 33 nil at half time. The home side managed to put over
a solitary penalty.
CR and FC planted five tries during a dazzling performance in the
first half and added three more tries in the second half to complete
their second successive victory this season.
Flanker Dhanushka Perera and winger Mohamed Jabbar went over twice in
the first half while centre Chamara Vithanage and number eight Diren
Warnakulasuriya scored one try each during a spectacular first half of
play. CR and FC of course made a number of replacements in the second
half and as a result they managed to cross their opponents goal line
only on three occasions.
Prop forward Henry Terrence, second row forward Ishan Noor and
flanker Dhanushka Perera added the finishing touches for CR and FC with
a try each in the second half.
The other significant performance for CR and FC came from their
dynamic fly half and regular place kicker Dev Anand who was in
tremendous form with as many as seven conversions. Harshana Wijeweera
fired across a 25 metre penalty for Police SC shortly before the final
whistle.
