Russia to keep Nuke arsenal
Russia: Russia will refuse to cut its nuclear arsenal if uncertainty
prevails in the world and the United States try to deploy its anti
missile defence system in Eastern Europe, assured a military source
Saturday.
Armed Forces General Staff chief Nikolai Makarov said there have been
no changes in the Strategic Rocket Forces (SRF) during the setting up
process of the new model of that structure.
The Nuke Strategic Forces are sacred for the Russian federation,
emphasized the general to the press.
He added Russia does not save resources to preserve this armed body
in its right level as a guarantee of strategic stability in the planet.
Defense Minister Anatoli Serdiukov has recently reported the amended
version of 2009-2011 military budget keeps nuke deterrence expenses
unchangeable.
The minister said that investigation and development of trial basis
prototypes, modernization ands state requests remain as priorities.
Serdiukov explained it was necessary to rebuild nearly all the
budgetary lines but those of the atomic deterrence were preserved.
Moscow will expend over 110 billion dollars in this current three
year period in investigation programs, innovation, repairing and
acquisition of war material, confirmed Prime Minister Vladimir Putin,
cited by Mayak Radio.
In the other hand, President Dimitri Medvedev warned Russia will not
give up to its plans of Army rearmament on a large scale and
modenization of the country's defensive capacity in accordance with the
new realities, threats and global challenges.
