Lak Sathosa outlet opened in Settikulam

Minister Bandula Gunawardhana yesterday opened a Lak Sathosa outlet and
showrooms of the Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation and State
Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC) in the welfare villages of
Settikulam,Vavuniya to provide essential commodities to IDPs at cheaper
rates.
After an observation tour in the centers and villages where over
200,000 displaced persons were accommodated, the Minister said that the
displaced civilians will be greatly relieved as nine Lak Sathosa
branches have been established in the relief villages in Settikulam.
Meanwhile, IDPs can purchase their necessary items like food,
beverages, textile items, shoes and medicine through the STC and SPC
showrooms. This would provide a better service to consumers and
producers alike. "We have planned to open four more STC showrooms in
welfare villages for the benefit of IDPs.
The Minister said that he expects to open a CWE outlet to provide
processed foods at low rates for IDPs. Under the Uthuru Wasanthaya
program, 30 Co-op cities have already been set up to provide essential
items to these civilians at cheaper rates in addition to what is
provided by the Government free of charge. |
