Another STC ML Class of 1990 project

Forget the T20 World Cup, forget Bolywood's IPL circus ... it's time now for the "Mother of All" cricket carnivals.

No ICC sanction as yet, but who needs them!! .... Saturday July 11 promises to be one big Blue & Black party at the Big Club Grounds. So make sure you clear your weekend as you wouldn't want to miss this!

Thomian old boys from Guru, Bandarawela, Prep and Mount will once again do battle for a year's worth of bragging rights, proclaiming themselves the Champion Class group.... In a softball category that is!

Last year's event drew 32 teams representing class groups from the 2003 Advanced Level batch right up to the class who sat their Ordinary Levels way back in 1971. Some legends of dished out top draw cricket and relieved a little bit of their glory days whilst others were seen shaking off rust.

However with the Hot Dogs, Lampries, foot massages, papare bands, fair ground rides, bouncers, pony rides, ice cream and candy floss, games of skill and a whole lot of camaraderie, the day was a carnival of revelry for old boys, their better halves and their children who, on all accounts, had a fantastic day out.

The event raised close to 2.5 million rupees which went towards the first phase of renovating the Tusk Shop and Pavilion. There is still more work to be done and the proceeds from the 2009 Cricket 6ers edition will go towards completing the project.

The 2nd edition of the Inter Thomian Inter Batch Cricket 6ers endeavours to top last year. There are 24 teams already signed up and revived to go. Some were seen practising over the long weekend.

There will be food and drink and fun stuff for every age group. In addition this we'll see, this year, a fun match for children below 12 years old and a far more competitive match for Thomian wives, girlfriends and mothers.

The tournament will be played on four pitches around the big Club grounds and the first one will start at 8 o' clock with the finals being played around 4 giving time for people to join in the Thomian walk if they wish to. The party and meeting friends and family will no doubt continue once the walk reaches College around 6 in the evening.

So tell all your friends and batch mates bring your family and get ready to have a super day.
