Special credit scheme to develop North

President Mahinda Rajapaksa officially launched a Special Development Credit Scheme titled ‘Awakening North’ which is exclusively designed for the development of the Northern Province by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) at a meeting at Temple Trees yesterday with CEOs of Banking Institutions to discuss the contribution of the banking sector in the Northern Province development.

GDP to rise with Moneragala rice

Moneragala district being the second largest district with a strong agricultural base in the country will increase the contribution to the country’s Gross Domestic Production from 1.3 percent to two percent with the completion of planned irrigation and development projects this year.
