Computerised certificates from Grama Niladaris

A new program for issuing computerised Grama Niladari Certificates through the respective Grama Niladaris has been launched recently in the Colombo District.

The proposed program will function under the direction of Public Administration and Home Affairs Secretary D. Disanayake and jointly with the support of ICTA and the Colombo University.

Commenting on the project, Colombo District Secretary A.J. Sylvester told the Daily News yesterday that 54 Grama Niladari Divisions out of 557 had been provided with computers and the computerised certificates will be issued from August 15. Sylvester added that computerised birth certificates and death certificates are issued at every divisional secretariat in the Colombo district.

There are nine Divisional Secretariats in the Colombo district and over 160,000 service seekers will benefit from the new program as they will not have to face delays in obtaining these documents, he said.
