Post-paid tariff plan:
SLT launches V talk
Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) launched another special tariff plan for its
post-paid telephone users under the brand name 'V talk' which offers the
freedom to choose a preferred calling plan. V talk comprises customized
tariff options for all voice communication needs that would make up a
part of the day-to-day lifestyles of all members of the family or a
business organization.

This is the first time that SLT is offering its telephone customers a
variety of tariff plans that grants people the freedom to choose a call
rate plan they want.
SLT V talk tariff plans comprise four options in addition to the
existing two options of standard home and business packages which are
charged on a per second basis.
The new packages are named as Value, Active, Novel, and Forever and
they offer per second billing, low call charges, low rentals, flat
rates, low calling rates for mobiles, and are also able to meet special
requirements such as Fixed rate per call or Fixed rate per minute
options.
Any SLT Megaline or SLT Citylink CDMA customer can select one of
these V talk price plans and requests can be made at any Regional Office
or Teleshop of SLT. SLT's customers islandwide will get the opportunity
to adjust themselves to one of the brand new tariff plans which suits
them if they wish to receive more benefits.
The new packages will be available for new customers as well as for
present SLT customers. There are alternative pricing methods a customer
can select depending on their requirement.
With the Value package from V talk - customers can enjoy per second
billing at low rates during peak, economy and discount time bands with
the lowest monthly rental. The real Values of this package are: the
reduced monthly rental and reduced call rates.
Also during Economy time band calls to any network, will be charged
half the call rate of the Peak time band.
SLT believes the customers who maintain lower budgets on their
monthly telephone bills will be benefited through this Value package.
Peak time: Monday to Friday - 7am to 6 pm and Saturday - 7am to 2pm.
Economy time: Monday to Friday - 5am to 7am and 6pm to 9pm, Saturday -
5am to 7am and 2pm to 9pm and Sunday and Public Holidays - 5am to 9pm.
Discount time: Everyday - 9pm to 12 midnight and 12 midnight to 5am.
The Active package is specially designed to bring down the cost of
voice communications at homes or office environments that maintain high
monthly telephone bills.
With this package, SLT customers can enjoy making frequent calls at
the lowest calling rates to any network including fixed and mobile
networks.
The Active package offers attractive calling rates during Business
Hours which are lower than the peak rate of VALUE package.
In the Active package there are only two time bands as Business Hours
and Discount Band.
Bajaj in Jaffna
David Pieris Motor Company Limited (DPMC), the sole agents for Bajaj
motorcycles and three-wheelers in Sri Lanka is getting ready to enter
the market in Jaffna today. The company will open its first sales office
in Jaffna. Bajaj motorcycles, Bajaj three-wheelers are already available
in Jaffna but this is the first time DPMC is launching its operations in
the region. The sales office scheduled to be opened today will provide
the residents of Jaffna with Bajaj motorcycles and three-wheelers. The
three-wheeler industry will offer the youth an opportunity for
self-employment and provide sustenance to their dependent family
members.
A number of persons have already been short-listed to be appointed as
sales dealers, supplementing the operations of the sales office.
The company also aims to expand its Bajaj service and spare parts
dealer network in the region. DPMC will provide training on Bajaj
motorcycle and three-wheeler repairs and maintenance to instructors at
the Jaffna Vocational Training Authority at its state-of-the-art
training facility at Bandaragama. On their return to Jaffna, these
instructors will train unemployed youth and school-leavers in the area
with a view to establishing Bajaj motorcycle and three-wheeler repair
and maintenance points throughout the region, thereby providing gainful
employment to these youth and an excellent after-sales service to the
customers.
Emirates offers 'impulse' fare to Singapore
A limited-duration fare unveiled in Colombo this week by Emirates
enables Sri Lankans to fly to Singapore on special rates.
Available for purchase till, September 11 only, these Economy Class
return tickets will be valid for outbound travel up to October 10.
"This special fare represents a saving of 24 per cent over the normal
fare to Singapore, would be ideal for an impulse visit to the Lion
City," Emirates Sales Manager in Sri Lanka Devika Ellepola said.
"It will also be very attractive to frequent business travellers and
those with family and friends in the city state," she said.
The special fare will also be available to those booking on-line, and
members of Skywards, the frequent flyer program of Emirates, will be
eligible to earn Skywards Miles on their tickets, she said.
All Economy Class passengers will receive Emirates' revised free
baggage allowance of 30 kgs as well.
"Spontaneous limited-duration offers like this come infrequently, but
provide an incentive to take a break for leisure or shopping, and are
snapped up very quickly, and therefore early booking is advised," she
said.
Emirates operates four services a week between Colombo and Singapore,
with flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Daya Group celebrates 25 years
The Daya Group of Companies which consists of several subsidiaries
celebrates the 25th anniversary of its inception this year. Daya Gamage
who is the proprietor of the Group entered into business in 1977 with
his brother after the death of their father, K.G. Francis.
Stepping into business with an empty hotel building which Daya and
his brother, Gamini inherited from their father, they improved that into
a dwelling with the provisions.
At present his enterprise is diversified into many industries
including construction, aviation and apparel. He decided to invest in
paddy cultivation in 1980 followed by poultry farming in 1982.
The Daya Group of companies entered the construction industry later
in its progressive journey. Daya Construction(Pvt)Ltd received the
contract to construct the 55 kms long Ampara-Mahaoya Road. This was the
first World Bank funded road sector development project awarded to a
local contractor.
The company which looked for new ventures soon realized the
importance of the garment industry.
The Daya Group of companies entered into garment manufacturing
industry under the 200 garment factory program. Daya Apparel Export (Pvt)
Ltd now has set up seven factories in Ampara and Sevanagala providing
employment to over 4500 employees.
In 2002, the Daya Group of companies purchased the Sevanagala Sugar
Industries Limited and improved its capacity by 300 percent. With the
rapid growth of his industries in Colombo and Ampara, it became wise to
invest in a six seater aircraft which started Daya Aviation (Pvt) Ltd.
The Daya Aviation purchased a 19 seater aircraft, which currently
operates in the USA.
The Daya Group of companies has expanded its business portfolio into
various industry sectors such as Agro, Media and Electro-mechanics and
at present comprises 30 companies. The Daya Group of companies
endeavours to develop the Ampara and Moneragala regions. |
