Matale Thomians edge out Rajans

A five knock of 96 with 13 fours by R.P. Kellepotha helped St. Thomas College, Matale to edge out Dharmaraja College in the first innings in their inter-school cricket match played at Lake View Grounds Kandy.

It was Kellepotha's fine knock which single handedly helped the Matale Thomians to overhaul the Rajans first innings total after they had lost two early wickets. In all he faced 102 falls.

The only other batsmen to enter double figures was A Munidasa 11.

Dharmaraja College 167 all out in 63 over (Rahula Ekanayake 58, Sadun Weerakoddy 39, R.Y. Bandara 17, Tharaka Silva 13, N. Karunaratne 16 not out, L. Madusanka 4 for 50, R.P. Kellapotha 3 for 48, M. Razak 2 for 23) and 211 for 8 wickets deat in 39.5 over (Ramesh Yapa Bandara 54, Sadun Weerakoddy 37, Rahula Ekanayake 31, Pratap Silva 35, B. Jayatilleke 4 for 41, A. Munidasa 2 for 20).

St. Thomas College, Matale 176 all out in 65.4 over R.P. Kellepotha 96, A. Munidasa 11, Tharaka Silva 3 for 36, R.Y. Bandara 2 for 28), and 76 for 5 wickets in 26 overs (K. Karunaratne 32, C.B. Jayatillake 17, S. Munisinghe 13 not out).
