A historic number of 1072 Naval recruits, belonging to the 174th, 175th and 176th Regular Intakes and 2009/02 and 2009/03 Volunteer Intakes, passed out upon successful completion of their initial Naval training at the Passing Out Parade held at SLNS Shiksha in Poonewa on Saturday. Muthuhettigama remanded

UPFA Galle district candidate Nishantha Muthuhettigama was remanded till September 22 (today) by Acting Galle Magistrate A.P.G. Sarachchandra when he was produced before him yesterday (21) by a special team of police officers.

False e-mail campaign:

Four suspects arrested

The Criminal Investigation Department conducting investigations into the dispatch of a false e-mail discrediting the tourism promotion program in Hikkaduwa, has arrested four suspects connected to this false e-mail campaign, Police Spokesman Senior DIG Nimal Mediwaka said yesterday.
