Carlton Cup Open Basketball C'ship:

'B' Div. - quarter finalists found

Old Bens Sports Club defeated Kandy Cagers BC 71 points to 52 in a Carlton Cup Open Basketball tournament 'B' Division quarter-final match played at Police Park courts.

Old Bens led 21 points to 19 at half time.

Clinton Stalon made a valuable contribution of 27 points while Udayanga Perera got 14, Nirmitha Weerasekera (12) and Lakshita Aberatne (10) played well for Kandy Cagers.

While Moratuwa Basketball Club routed Sri Lanka Army Basketball Club 73 points to 71 in a another 'B' Division quarter-final game played at same venue. Moratuwa BC was in the lead 43 points 35 at half time.

Sandesh de Mel was the highest scorer for the winners with 25 points.

G. Silva (22), Gayan Buddhika (19) and Indunil Kodikara (18) collected points for Sri Lanka Army.

Field Force Youth BC, Joes BC, Old Bens and Moratuwa BC have made their way to the semi-finals.

The inaugural Carlton Cup open basketball tournament organized by Carlton Sports Club and 'Tharunyata Hetak' organization is being sponsored by Sri Lanka Telecom and Solex Engineering.
