Sanjeeva an unbeaten 112
A sparkling knock of 112 not out by Amila Milan Sanjeewa was the
highlight of the high scoring limited overs cricket match which also
helped Yakkala Sports
Club beat and Gurukula Sports Club by 165 runs. The match was played
recently at Anura M.V ground.
Yakkala SC won the toss and batting first made a huge total of 418
for the loss of 8 wickets. In reply Gurukula SC managed only 253. The
cricket match was organized by Gampaha Cricket Association.

Police Sports Club toppled the Group 'B' table leaders Don Bosco SC
four goals to nil in their Dialog Premier League soccer encounter played
at Police Park on Thursday. Police SC who way behind on the points table
in stage one has made steady progress during the final stage round two
recording two good wins.
Mahamaya Prize giving
Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy will hold its annual Prize Giving on
October 26, 2009 at the College Auditorium commencing at 2.00 p.m.
The Chief Guest will be the Speaker of the Parliament W. J. M.
Lokubandara. Guest of Honour will be the Chief Minister of Central
Province, Sarath Ekanayake.
Lyceum's Lahiru Junior Scrabble Champion
Lahiru Elvitigala student of Lyceum International School Nugegoda,
added yet another title to his illustrious scrabble career, when he
became the junior champion (Over 13 - under 18) at the recently
concluded All Island Scrabble competition organized by the Sri Lanka
Scrabble League. Nishan Perera also of LIS (N) was placed 10th.
Lahiru also emerged runner-up at the 2009 Schools Scrabbler of the
year contest held on 27th September in which the top 33 players from
schools took part.
Lyceum Nugegoda will hold their annual schools under 15 scrabble
tournament on November 21st.
Petes take schools cager title
St. Peter’s College clinched the all island inter school under 19
basketball title when they defeated S. Thomas’ College by 85 points to
52 points in the final encounter worked off under lights at the S.
Thomas’ College indoor stadium in Mount Lavinia on Thursday.
The Peterites took an early lead of 16-10 in the first quarter and
then went into half time with a commanding lead of 36-25. They further
consolidated their position to build up a 63-40 lead at the end of the
fourth quarter.
Shenal Dias (34) and Lakshan Samarasinghe (26) did the bulk of the
scoring for St. Peter’s College with Andrew Jayakody providing the back
up support. Shavin Kapuwatte (19) and Rikesh Dharmasena (8) figured in a
vain effort for S. Thomas’ College.
