O/L candidates: NICs before November 15

All candidates sitting the 2009 December G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination who have applied for National Identity Cards will be issued NICs before November 15, said Registration of Persons Department Commissioner General A.G. Dharmadasa.

He said the Department has received NIC applications from 156,841 students from January 1 upto October 15 and another 1,286 from then upto October 22. Of them, NICs have been issued to 76,104 and the balance will be issued before November 15.

An additional 87 temporary clerks recruited on a contract basis have been deployed for issuing NICs, he said.
