Govt to enhance power supply in South

The Government will enhance the power supply in the South.
The power augmentation programs are in progress in Hambantota.
According to Deputy General Manage attached to Southern Regional Office
of the Ceylon Electricity Board, Galle H. A. G. Pushpakumara, the
electricity projects implemented in Hambantota have made a significance
progress and they will be completed and vested in the public prior to
end of the year.
Power augmentation programs in Galle and Matara will be initiated at
the beginning of next year under the proposed “Lighting Sri Lanka”
project.
Establishing transformers, extensions power lines and commencement of
new power projects are included in them, Deputy General Manager H. A. G.
Pushpakumara said.
The estimated cost of these projects is over Rs. 1,500 million.
The Nation Building and Estate Infrastructure Development Ministry is
funding the project. |
