Bright prospects for aerospace business in Sri Lanka - Investor

Rune Flinth

The investment opportunities offered by the Board of Investment (BOI) is impressive and the support for investors from banks is encouraging. The capabilities of Sri Lankan engineers are commendable and the workforce is loyal and competent and this is one of the main reasons to invest in Sri Lanka.

There is a demand for sensors for board aircraft, created by the increased factors of safety, reliability and efficiency, Flinth Industrial Park, Chairman, Rune Flinth told Daily News Business.

commendable

* Demand for sensors for aircraft will grow further

* Commercial operations to begin in January

He said the demand for aerospace business and especially sensors on board aircraft will grow further. The future of the aerospace industry will improve with aircraft designs aimed at better performance.

Each generation needs more sensors than the earlier generation with improved control, smoother flight, lower fuel consumption, reliability and to ensure a higher level of safety.

“We are planning to commence commercial operations in January next year. The demand is such that it will depend on how fast we could train employees and generate over 2,000 job opportunities with the setting up of the Flinth Industrial Park in Kadawatha. We will send our employees for training to the UK and the US”, he said.

We manufacture products in California and we design and develop new products in the UK. We have the potential of designing and developing.

The company has adopted eco friendly concepts in manufacturing aircraft components.

One of the reasons to choose Sri Lanka was the vast experience in a few major investment projects.

We will be manufacturing products such as sensors for measurement of positions, pressure, force and load, he said.

Flinth said that the sensors they manufacture are used in all types of aircraft - from the larger and more complex types such as business jets, regional jets, main line jets, long-haul jets and helicopters.
