DPS Lanka opens new factory
DPS Lanka (Pvt) Ltd which has been producing packing material of
various types including varieties of gum tape for packing finished
products for the domestic and foreign market has expanded its activities
in their new factory in the Industrial Estate at Dankotuwa in the North
Western Province and had introduced new types of packing material.
Chief among them are paper tubes (cylindrical paper tubes on which
cloth is rolled) and composite cans used for packing tea, sweetmeats and
food. This production process is specially an environmental project. The
company’s Managing Director Placidus Fernando hopes to take further
steps in improving production under the peaceful conditions that are
prevailing in the country.
In accordance with the Mahinda Chintana program this project provides
jobs in rural areas and further strengthens Sri Lanka’s economy.
As these packing material are produced locally foreign exchange is
saved and this is an encouragement for local small and medium scale
industrialists.
Production commenced in a factory in the Ragama area and was later
shifted to the Dankotuwa Industrial Estate.
