Rapid decline of student IDPs

Following the accelerated resettlement program undertaken by the Government, the number of students in the IDP welfare centres has declined from 65,000 to 35,000, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

The Minister was addressing a gathering at the Education Ministry Auditorium on Wednesday. Due to the proper and speedy mechanism of the Government to resettle the IDPs in their places of origin the number of students in IDP welfare centres has rapidly declined, Minister Premajayantha added.

The Government has taken steps to establish one 'Isuru Pasal' (School which has all facilities) in each GA division in Jaffna amounting to five. In addition, 33 computer laboratories have already been established in Jaffna district.
