Some of the houses constructed for internally displaced fisher families in Pallimunai, Mannar.

A housing project has been completed in Pallimunai, Mannar implemented under the Uthuru Vasanthaya rehabilitation program of the north by the National Housing Development Authority for the benefit of 50 internally displaced fisher families.

The project was completed with each family given a grant of Rs.325,000 and technical assistance. Each house has a floor area of 500 square feet. The beneficiaries had also invested Rs.200,000 for building their houses.

The government had allotted a 10 perch block for each of the families, states a NHDA press release yesterday.
