Dimantha 5 for 35

Spinner Anushka Dimantha took a five-wicket haul to help Isipatana College dismiss St. Peter’s College for 97 runs in their first innings on the opening day of their rain-hit inter-school under-19 cricket tournament match which began at Bambalapitiya yesterday.

St. Peter’s: 97 (A. Emmanuel 31, A. Dimantha 5 for 35, S. Sulochana 4 for 34). Isipatana: 99 for 5 (H. Kavindu 45 n.o, T. Samarasinghe 2 for 21).

Kingswood 43/3

Kingswood College Kandy were struggling at 43 for 3 in their first innings on the opening day of their rain-hit inter-school under-19 cricket tournament match against D.S. Senanayake College played for the Hashan Tillekeratne Trophy at Wijerama Mawatha yesterday. Kingswood: 43 for 3 (V. Wetakepotha 2 for 20) vs D. S. Senanayake.

Sports meet

Inter-house athletic meet 2009 of the Lyceum International School, Nugegoda will be held at the Sugathadasa Outdoor Stadium, Colombo on Sunday starting at 9 a.m.

Bradley Emerson, Regional Director South Asia and Middle East of CIMA will be the chief guest at this meet in which athletes representing Aquila, Cetus, Cygnus, Ursa houses, will take part in 69 events.


Old Bens Basketballers beat the strong and youthful Field Force Youth Club (comprising players from families of Police Dept.) and clinched the brand new Carlton Cup 2009 and won the prize money of Rs. 50,000/- in the inaugural B Division Tournament organized jointly by the Carlton Basketball Club and ‘Tharunyata Hetak’ (A Future for Youth) in the Final-played at the Depot Police Court . Full time score was 69-65 (Half time score 31-22). The Tournament was jointly sponsored by Sri Lanka Telecom and Solex Engineering.
