A Sports Council for Central Province appointed

The Ministry of Sports, Central Province has taken some important steps to improve the standard of sports in the Province. In this regard, the Chief Minister (CP) Sarath Ekanayake has appointed a Sports Council recently.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Sports & Industries Mrs. Shirani Weerakoon has started a coaching project for selected pools for various sports disciplines such as netball, kabadi, wrestling, hockey etc. These pools will be trained by specialized coaches for 1 year to replace the present teams.

The President of the Sports Council is the present Sports Minister V. Radhakrishnan and the Regional Presidents and the Provincial Secretaries and 20 such sports Presidents were appointed.
