Tiger Woods is the Greatest Golfer of all time. His talent with his
personality succeeded where no other golfer did. The 35 year old Woods
is accomplished and his achievements are unmatched.
Eldrick Tiger Woods was born on December 30, 1975 in Cypress,
California, USA. The only child of Earl, a retired Lieutenant and
Kultida of Thai descent. Earl Woods gave his son Eldrick the nickname
'Tiger'. He is world famous now.
In his boyhood days Tiger watched his father hit golf balls. He began
playing golf from the time he learnt to walk.
Woods was appearing on television and winning kids golf tournaments
at the age of two, he was featured in Golf Digest when he was only five.
After shooting 48 for nine holes, he also won trophies at Junior
Tournaments at the age of eight.
In 1990 he became the youngest player to win the US Junior Amateur
Championship and created history for the first time. Ever since Woods
has been re-writing the record books.
Woods had already played in a professional tournament when he was 16
years old - the Nissan Open in 1992. In the next year he took part in
three PGA Tour events.
In 1994 he became the youngest golfer ever to win the US Amateur
Championship at the age of 18. Three years later he became the youngest
and the first person of Asian Origin to win the Masters Tournament.

* In 1997 the youngest ever to emerge number One golfer in the world
(age 21)
* He has clinched eight major victories in one year 1999. In the same
year he also achieved the highest point average (20.61). In the same
year he also earned a record setting 750 points. The Associated Press
named Tiger Woods as the Male Athlete of the year. In the year 2000 he
won the PGA Championship and US and the British Open. In April 2001 he
became the first player in history to hold all four major golf titles at
the same time. He became golf's all-time highest money earner.
