Two superb bowling performances by Josephians - medium pacer
Chathuranga Kumara (6 for 77) and spinner Rosco Thattil (2 for 42)
helped them to bundle out Maris Stella College, Negombo for 160 runs in
their first innings in the inter school under-19 cricket match which
began at St. Joseph College grounds, Darley Road yesterday.
In reply St. Joseph’s were 53 for no loss when play was stopped early
due to bad light.

Peterites pile up 320 for 5
Fine half centuries by St. Peter’s College Captain Chathura Peries
(81 n.o.) and Andre Berenger (80) helped them to pile up 320 runs for
the loss of five wickets against Nalanda College in their under-19 inter
school cricket match which began at Bloomfield grounds, Reid Avenue
yesterday.
Nalanda College bowler Adeesha Nanayakkara claimed 2 for 45.
Play was stopped early due to bad light.
St. Peter’s 320 for 5 (Chathura Peries 81 n.o., Andre Berenger 80,
Lahiru Niklantha 40, Nilochana Perera 43 n.o., Hasitha Perera 20, Akshu
Fernando 18, Adeesha Nanayakkara 2 for 45).
Isipatana in strong position
Isipatana College were in a strong position at the end of the first
day’s play in their inter-school cricket match against Royal College
which began at Colts grounds, Havelock Park yesterday.
Royal taking first lease of the wicket scored 203 helped by a fine
knock by Charutha Rajaratne (85 not out) ably supported by Ramish
Rambukwella (48). Spinner Anushka Samaratunge captured 4 wickets for 60.
Isipatana in reply scored 150 for 5 with Sasantha Nilusha making a
hard hit 45 while Vidushana Sanka was 28 not out.
