Balares and Kapila SC volleyball champions

The championship titles of the Jeevan Kumaratunge Challenge Cup
tournament recently held at the National Youth Centre Indoor Stadium
were clinched by Balares Sports Club, Boralesgamuwa (men) and Kapila
Sports Club, Siyabalagoda.
The tournament was organised by Jeevan Kumaratunge Foundation to mark
the 15th year of his political life and the 25th year of his cinema
career and his birthday which fell on November 7.
The tournament was limited for the permanent residents of Colombo
district.
30 men’s teams and eight women’s teams took part at the tournament.
Results (men):
Champions - Balares Sports Club, Boralesgamuwa. 1st runner-up -
Mirihana United Sports Club, 2nd runner-up - Siyabalagoda Kapila Sports
Club.
Results (women):
Champions - Kapila Sports Club, Siyabalagoda, 1st runner-up - Kottawa
North Dharmapala Vidyalaya, 2nd runner-up - Central College, Homagama.
The best player (women):
Selected was Sanjeevanie Priyangika, of Kapila SC, Siyabalagoda and
the best player (men) was Amila Ruwan Abeysekara of Balares Sports Club,
Boralesgamuwa.
Under the supervision of the Deputy Chairman of Sri Lanka Volleyball
Federation Bhaswara Senanka Gunaratne, the sports division of the
National Youth Services Council coordinated the tournament. |
