SLFP, strongest democratic party in Asia

Whatever election is held in future the people are well aware of whom they should elect to rule the country, Plantation Industries Minister D.M. Jayaratne said.

He said the SLFP is the strongest democratic political party in Asia.

He was speaking at the meeting organized to address the Galle district SLFP representatives recently.

The SLFP will be able to defeat all other political parties in forthcoming elections at any level.

The regime of Sri Lanka had been under four Presidents during the past two decades. Only President Mahinda Rajapaksa was able to defeat LTTE terrorists and bring back the peace to the country, Jayaratne said.

As a political party the SLFP did not hesitate to support the President whenever taking decisions related to the critical situations in the country. The SLFP was always with the side of the common man.

Now war is over. The next is to transform the country to a developed country.

The SLFP is prepared to face this challenge with a great prestige ever had. Addressing the meeting, Senior Presidential Advisor and MP Basil Rajapaksa said the SLFP should prepare to face any challenges by correcting its shortcomings through experience as the strongest political party.

All ideas and proposals will be appreciated.

Rajapaksa said it is clear to give priority to resolve burning issues among the people.

We should meet the people in remote villages and tackle their issues at grassroots level.

Vocational and Technical Training Minister Piyasena Gamage and Southern Province Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal de Silva also addressed the meeting.
