Water project to benefit 30,000

The Rikillagaskada-Hanguranketha drinking water project which was started by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board will be opened on November 24 by Livestock Development Minister R.M.C.B. Ratnayaka. The Government had spent Rs.785 million for this project and it will provide drinking water for 30,000 people. Water for this project will be drawn from the Mul Oya reservoir.

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board started construction of this project in November, 2006 to supply drinking water for people in Rikillagaskada, Hanguranketha, Ginigathena, Walapane, Nildandahinna, Maskeliya, Hatton and Ragala.

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board plans to complete all projects before the end of this year.
