Shell claims Rs 1.7 b from Govt

Shell Gas Company has made an application to the Arbitral Tribunal under the Price Revising Formula Agreement claiming over Rs1.7 billion from the Government for the loss they have experienced by selling LP gas for the price decided according to the formula.

Quality education for all - President

Puttalam gets higher education zone

President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Saturday asserted that the Government was committed to ensuring equity in access to quality education for all. He said that this in turn would contribute to achieving equity in development throughout the country. The Government would strive to provide rural children education facilities on par with ones enjoyed by city children.

The Agri, Livestock, Fisheries - SMEDEX-2009 exhibition organized by the Small and Medium Enterprise Developers (SMED) of the FCCISL was held at the BMICH from November 20-22. Agri products were displayed in a creative and attractive manner. A number of stalls displayed various kinds of traditional grain packeted, ready-to-cook such as Olu rice, Meneri Thana Haal and Amu which are enriched with high nutrition. The exhibition comprised 70 stalls including agri services providers, the Coconut Development Board, Lanka Puthra Bank and various fish producing companies.
