SLMC restrained from holding election

Colombo District Court yesterday issued an enjoining order restraining Sri Lanka Medical Council from holding election to elect the office bearers which was scheduled to be held from November 25 to November 27.

Colombo District Judge Laffar Thahir issued the enjoining order after the Consultant Judicial Medical Officer W.M. Ajith Samantha Jayasena filed a plaint complaining that the election was to be held contrary to regulations.

The plaintiff cited Chairman Dr. Lalitha Mendis, vice Chairman Nanda Amarasekara and 26 others as defendants.

The Court also ordered the enjoining order to be sent to the Registrar of the Sri Lanka Medical Council. The case was put off for December 09.
