Buddhist talk

Dr. M.H.V. Cooray will deliver a Public Buddhist talk in English on “Contribution of Buddhism to Civilization” at a meeting of the Servants of the Buddha Society on Saturday November 28, at 4.30 p.m at the Maitri Hall, Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya.


Special street theatre show

A Special Street Theatre show will be held at the Kadolana Methodist Church Grounds, Moratuwa on November 29, by late Dr. Gamini Haththotuwegama’s Open Street Theatre Troupe to mark his 71st birthday.

This is the first street Theatre show held after Dr. Gamani Haththotuewegama’s death. The participants will comprise actors and actresses who have taken part since the inception of the group in 1974.

The show will consist of plays that will represent several ears of Dr. Haththtuwegama’s street theatre movement and it will be a first step in collating all his plays, songs and dances for the benefit of the theatre audiences.


Film

There will be a screening of ‘Just Another Love Story’ at the ICES Colombo Auditorium, 2, Kynsey Terrace, Colombo 8 on Friday November 27, at 5.30 p.m.


Carol service

The annual festival of nine lessons and carols by the Wesley College choir, will be held on Monday November 30 at 6.00 p.m. at the College Hall. The College band will be in attendance.

Preacher at the service, will be President of the Sri Lanka Methodist Church Rev. Ebenezer Joseph.


TEDA AGM

The Annual General Meeting of Telecommunication Engineering Diplomats Association (TEDA) will be held on November 27 from 9.30 onwards at Grand Oriental Hotel.

The inauguration and the launching of the website will also be held.


Family sale

The annual Bargain counters organised by the Edirimana - Corea Family Union will be held at the Girl Guides Headquarters, Colombo 07 on Sunday 29 from 9.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Clothes for the whole family will be available at rock bottom prices. Entrance free.

The Lions and Lion Ladies of the Colombo (Host) Club will hold a Christmas sale with eve to raise funds to support the sick and the blind, the maimed, the young and old on December 6 at the Shalika Hall, 225 Park Road, Colombo 5 from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

An emergency general meeting of the Past Pupils Association of Newstead Girls School, Negombo will be held on November 29 at 2 p.m. at the school hall.


Minister addresses fund managers

Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister and Deputy Finance Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama will today address over 100 fund managers based in Singapore at a forum 'Invest in Sri Lanka time is now' facilitated by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka.
