Cyclone threat recedes

The cyclone that was moving towards the north of Sri Lanka has weakened into a depression but it is moving closer to Mullaitivu.

Intermittent rain with strong winds will be experienced especially in the Northern, North Central, Eastern and North Western Provinces, said Meteorologist in charge D.A. Jayasinghearachchi.

He said because of the cyclone, heavy showers and fairly strong winds will be experienced at several places in the country, specially in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces.
