All set for free and fair poll
All arrangements have been made to ensure the
voting rights of all on January 26 and hold a free and fair poll,
Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayaka told the media
yesterday.

GDP rose from US $1,000 to $2,000 per capita
“During my period, Sri Lanka which was
recognized as a low income country was elevated to middle income
status. The country’s per capita GDP rose from a meagre US $ 1,000

Asian election monitors here
Observers would be deployed in all districts to
monitor the Presidential Election, said Head of Observers’ Mission
of the Association of Asian Election Authorities Dr Pan Wei Ta of
Taiwan. Forty observers, including Afghan Vice President General
Ayub Assil and several Election Commissioners from 13 countries
would monitor the Presidential Elections from 7 am to 4 pm on
January 26.
