Anti-aircraft ammo recovered
A special team from the Vavuniya Police recovered
a large number of anti-aircraft ammunition in Vellaimullivaikkal,
Mullaitivu yesterday morning. Police Spokesman SSP I.M. Karunaratne
said acting on information provided by an LTTE suspect, the Vavuniya
Police Crime Unit launched a subsequent search operation and found
288 of 12.7 mm anti-aircraft ammunition.

Grenade attack
An unidentified gang lobbed a hand grenade at
the residence of Opposition member and SLFP Mahajana Wing General
Secretary Tiran Alles yesterday morning in Nawala. The house and a
vehicle were damaged in the hand grenade attack, police spokesman
SSP I.M Karunaratna said.
