Compulsory retirement to Armed Forces Officers
Information has been received with regard to the
active participation in political work prior and during the recently
concluded Presidential elections by a handful of Armed Forces
officers. After establishing further details on the above matter,
Government has decided to terminate their service by awarding
compulsory retirement irrespective of their ranks, states media

Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District
Judge Lanka Jayaratne yesterday issued notice on the Criminal
Investigation Department (CID) to appear in court on February 8 in
respect of an anticipatory bail application by Senior Counsel for
Danuwana Tillekeratne, son-in-law of General Sarath Fonseka.
