India wants to host next SA Games

India have expressed their willingness to host the 12th South Asian
Games. Sometime before 2014 during an Executive Committee meeting of
South Asia Olympic Council (SAOC).
The exact place and timing of the games will be decided at the 42nd
Executive Committee meeting of SAOC.
The 41st meeting yesterday was presided over by the President of SAOC
and Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) General Md Abdul Mubeen.
It was the turn of Bhutan to host the SAG but they don’t have the
infrastructure to hold the games of this magnitude, said General Mubeen.
12th SA Games were scheduled to be held in 2012. But Indian
representative expressed their inability to stage that year as the
London Olympics will be held in the same year.
Delegation from all the participating countries took part in the
meeting and they expressed their satisfaction on the gala opening
ceremony.
Some observations and suggestions also came up from the delegation
regarding accommodation, transportation and security.
Both, the President and the Secretary General of BOA sympathised with
the Nepalese athletes who were injured in an accident at a local hotel
on the opening day. |
