Brisk trading moves stocks

The indices at the Colombo Stock Exchange gained with brisk trading in most stocks.

The market turnover for the day crossed Rs 2.6 million, with Asia Capital accounting for Rs 349 million in turnover.

This was mostly on 31.9 million shares chaning hands at Rs 10.00. John Keells Holdings saw Rs 168 million in business with the share closing down at Rs 171.50. Environmental Resou-rces shares generated Rs 165 million in business with the share closing up at Rs 207.00 ERI warrants excisable in 2010 closed up at Rs 144.50 and the 2011 warrants closed up at Rs 145.25.

Asia Capital disclosed that that V Vijayaratnam had purchased an additional 31.9 million shares of the company taking his total stake to 95.7 million shares which amounts to 87 percent of the company.
